Created in the great Rolls-Royce tradition of craftmanship and opulence, the Dawn is the latest in an illustrious line of glamorous open-topped cars produced by the marque since its earliest days. It is a singular car: while a handful of other open four seat cars exist like the Bentley Continental GTC, none of them provides such uncompromisingly spacious or luxurious accommodations for all its occupants. It does not concern itself with sporting pretense, which means it is exceptionally well-suited to serene, effortless progress. Its peak torque of about 600 foot-pounds at 1500 RPM ensures that effortlessness, as does 563 hp from its twin-turbocharged 6.6 liter V12.
While the car is capable of a brisk sub-5 second 0-60 sprint, to dwell on this would be to miss the point of this car. It is about living well, about savoring the miles and the open air with timeless good taste. It eschews gimmicky features in favor of grandness and a sense of occasion, one which is heightened by the fact that Rolls-Royce has reported that the Dawn the last internal combustion open car they will produce.
This particular Dawn is a two-owner example originally owned by Billy Joel according to the dealer which supplied it to the current owner. It is well-optioned and was equipped with more than $50,000 of options, bringing the original MSRP to $404,400. Options include Andalusian white paintwork (pearlescent) with dark blue coachline, 21” polished wheels, up-lit spirit of ecstasy, bespoke interior with two-tone steering wheel, front ventilated seats, RR monograms on the headrests, canadel panelling, navy blue piping, open pore santos palisander wood, lambswool floor mats, color-keyed trunk carpet, and much more.
The car’s current owner acquired it in 2021 with 1700 miles and the car received a service at the authorized Rolls-Royce dealer in January of 2024. This included an oil change, fresh brake fluid, new microfilter, and all open recalls were also addressed. The car is complete with fitted car cover, a fitted leather bag that fits into the trunk, both lambswool and rubber floor mats, owner’s manual, battery conditioner, window sticker, the invoice for the recent service, and of course the umbrellas which can be accessed when the doors are open.
